Sign Petition: Electric charging point which is hard to find and can’t be signposted could be discussed in Parliament

AN ONLINE petition has been launched to force Parliament to discuss a new hard to find electric vehicle (EV) charging point – that few people know exists and which isn’t allowed to be sign-posted.

Motorists have been able to plug in to the energy saving initiative since the facility was installed in the Forest Row Community Centre car park in September.

But the firm behind the scheme has been informed that it is prohibited from erecting signs directing motorists to the charging point.

Amy Parcell, from WiredThing in Lower Road, explained: “The EV charging point was installed at Forest Row Parish Council in the community centre car park and is free for everyone to use. However, after some extensive research, we have discovered via the Department for Transport (DfT) that the Government has no plans to allow directional parking signage on existing road signs or anywhere on the public highway.”
