Since January 2011, motorists purchasing a qualifying ultra-low emission car have been able to receive a grant of 25% towards the cost of the vehicle, up to a maximum of £5,000. The 2010 spending review confirmed that government has made provision to support the Plug-in Car Grant for the life of this parliament.

Ford Focus Electric goes on sale in UK

Ford’s first full electric passenger vehicle went on sale in the UK today, with full rollout set for 2014.
The Ford Focus Electric makes its UK debut priced from £28,500, with the £5000 Plug in Car Grant. Ford says it expects to sell just 30 vehicles in the first year in the UK, despite the conventional Ford Focus being one of the world’s top-selling cars. The initial low volume is in response to “interest from fleet customers and in support of Ford’s market-leading business sales”, Ford added. However, due to a novel “build-to-order”production system, a Ford spokeswoman said the company will be able to increase supply as required.  » Read the rest of this entry «
