IT is a landmark deal in the drive towards greener travel on Hampshire’s roads.
Six locations in the county have been earmarked for power points to charge electric cars after Hampshire County Council secured £315,000 of Government cash from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles. (Personal Comment: why only six for £315k?)
The rapid charge points – which are among the fastest available – are among 12 being created in the region. They will be fitted with two different types of connector enabling owners of all electrical vehicles to charge their batteries for an onward journey in 20 to 30 minutes and will operate through a ‘pay as you go’ system with no registration required.
